The purpose of the "Pin the Ears on the Heads" bulletin board is to provide children with an activity-based learning experience that addresses the part of the body that hears. Cover the bulletin board with the heads of a rabbit, cat, dog, child, man, woman, elephant and mouse all with their ears missing. Pinned to the bulletin board are the laminated ears that go with each of the heads. Encourage children to go to the bulletin board, find the ears that go with each head and pin the ears on the heads so that they can hear.
The "This Tastes Good to Me" bulletin board relates to the sense of taste and offers children an interactive learning experience. Cover the bulletin board with pictures of different kinds of edible foods. Attached to the bulletin board are a number of laminated Happy and Yucky faces. The children are told they can look at each food item and pin a Happy face on it if they think it is a food that tastes good or a Yucky face if it tastes bad.
The "This Feels Good to Me" bulletin board offers children a chance to feel a lot of different textures and materials and to decide if they like the feel on their skin or don't like it. Fill the bulletin board with items such as sand paper, thorns, cotton balls, plastic, rubber, glass, felt, velvet, wool, silk, burlap and more. Make many laminated thumbs up and thumbs down pieces. Demonstrate how to pin a thumbs up sign under an item that feels good to the skin and to pin a thumbs down sign under an item that doesn't feel good to the skin. Be sure and find equal numbers of things that feel good and feel bad.
