Cut a paper heart as large as your bulletin board allows. Then cut the heart into simple puzzle shapes, enough to give one to each child.
Have preschoolers decorate their puzzle pieces any way they want, with crayons or markers or by gluing on craft items. Print each child's name on her puzzle piece.
Fasten the puzzle pieces onto a bulletin board to form the large heart. Make a sign that says, "Being friends makes our class fun."
Attach a picture of each child to the bulletin board. Print out or write some of the preschoolers' favorite poems, rhymes or simple songs. Let the children decide which songs or poems they want by their names.
Use the bulletin board during circle time. Let each child lead the others in saying or singing the song or poem by his name.
Let your bulletin board be entirely kid-created. Give each preschooler a construction paper heart shape. Set out art items such as construction paper, craft foam scraps, fabric, felt, craft eyes and chenille stems. Also set out scissors and glue.
Have the preschoolers use the cutouts to create heart-shaped critters. Kids may add arms and legs, ears, tails and other body parts to create, for example, frogs, fish, bears, birds or people. Fasten the creatures to the bulletin board.
Valentine's month is a great time to stress how much the children and teachers love the activities they do at preschool.
Use photos of the class doing fun activities throughout the year so far.
Place each photo on a heart cutout and fasten it to the bulletin board. Print each child and teacher's name in the margins on the board. Preschoolers will enjoy seeing themselves in a picture and will also learn to find their names in print.
