Cut one circle or square from cardboard.for each student. Cut a length of string about eight inches long. Glue both ends of the string to the top edge of the back of the cardboard shape. Pass out liquid glue to the students and give them a container of dry macaroni. Instruct students to lay glue around the outer edge of the shape about an inch wide. Help students push macaroni into the glue covering as much glue as possible. Allow ornaments about six hours to dry. Spray paint the ornaments green, silver, gold or other festive color. Allow the ornaments 24 hours to dry. Ask students to bring a picture of themselves to school. Supervise students as they cut a circle around their face. Center each face picture in the middle of the macaroni and glue it in place.
Give each student a large piece of white construction paper. Supervise as students roll up their sleeves and dip both hands in a paper plate of tempera paint. Place both hands on the sides of the paper creating two hand prints. Wash students' hands. Allow paper 6 hours to dry. Have students glue a picture of themselves in the center of their hand prints. Glue a small sheet of snack time rule reminders under the picture. Laminate the place mats. Use the place mats at snack time each day at preschool.
Type "Thanksgiving Scrapbook" in large font on the computer. Print this paper. Photocopy this cover page for each child. Staple together with five more white papers for each booklet. Ask students to take their booklet home and glue photographs of themselves and their family as well as pictures from magazines depicting what they are thankful for. Ask a parent volunteer to label each picture in the book. Instruct students to decorate the cover page and the interior of the book. Have students "read" their book to the class.
Cut out one large petaled flower of construction paper for each student. Ask students to bring a photograph of themselves from home or take a photo of each student's face at school. Supervise as students cut their face out carefully in the shape of a circle. Give each student a large blue sheet of construction paper. Have students glue their paper flower at top of the paper and glue the photograph of their face in the center of the flower. Using green tempera paint have students paint the stem for their flower. Roll up their sleeves and have each student place their hands in a paper plate of green paint and make hand prints for the flower's leaves. Label with each student's name and allow to dry.
