Give back to parents some of the hugs and kisses that they are always giving to their kids. Preschoolers can fill little cellophane or mesh bags with candies shaped like lips or hearts to represent the kisses and love they receive from their parents. Instruct the students that they should present the gifts to their parents accompanied by real hugs and kisses.
Give parents the gift of thanks and appreciation that they surely deserve. Sit down with each child and help her create a list of things that her parents do that she is thankful for. Be sure to come up with at least 10 thoughts for each child and include reasons specific to both mom and dad. Help the children decorate their pages with heart-shaped sponges dipped in pink and red paint.
Ask the parents to bring in a few pictures of themselves with their children and purchase thin, wooden hearts that the children can paint the color of their choice. Create a memory collage by gluing the various pictures onto the child's painted heart. Attach a hook or ribbon to each heart's top so that the parents can hang the ornaments.
Take a picture of each child holding out his arms as far as they can go and have the pictures developed. Create heart cards for the parents by cutting two hearts out of one folded piece of paper so that they are attached on one side; fold the card in half so that one heart sits on top of the other. On the front of the card, write "Guess how much I love you?"; on the inside, paste the picture of the child. Underneath the picture, write "This much!" and have the children sign and decorate the cards.
