Pair your students and have them make friendships bracelets for one another to teach your students how to display appreciation for their friends. Give each student colored yarn and decorative beads to create the bracelets. You might also provide your class with letter beads to spell out the name of their partner, which you might need to assist them with. Once they complete the bracelet, have them exchange bracelets with their partner. Ensure that the children say "thank you" to one another when they receive their bracelet.
Pair students together and take photos of both of them in two different poses. Print and paste each photo onto the front of construction paper folded in half. Give each student a different copy of the pose. Instruct students to write a short message such as "thank you for being my friend" or "you are my friend" on the card and sign the card. Ask the students to exchange cards with their partner.
Cut out paper dolls and distribute to the class along with crayons, glue and construction paper. Have each student create clothing out of construction paper and draw faces to replicate a friend in class. If students have trouble, help cut out dresses, skirts, pants and shirts out of construction paper. Have each student describe their doll and why they think it resembles their friend. Afterward, post each doll on the class board, writing the name of the student it represents underneath.
Have your students trace their hands onto construction paper and cut out the shapes using safety scissors. Each child should write their name on their hand. Instruct the students to paste their hands around a single paper plate to create a hand wreath of friendship. Explain to the group that this represents a collaborative piece constructed when friends work together. Ask the class what they like most about working together with their friends to create the hand wreath to complete the project.
