Preschool Keyboard Games

Keyboarding skills are an important first step for preschoolers learning to use computers. Computer literacy is key to being able to successfully use computers to reinforce math, reading and other academic skills. Preschoolers using keyboarding games can quickly become familiar with the basics of the computer keyboard. This will enable them to move ahead with other skill-building games.
  1. Learning Games for Kids

    • Learning Games for Kids is a free website featuring keyboarding skills for the youngest computer users. Early typing skills teach kids the location of letters on the keyboard and how to move and return to home base on the keyboard. Games also address using the number pad and the mouse to move around the computer page.

    Kiddie Games

    • Kiddie Games is another free website available for preschoolers and their parents. The games available focus on both keyboarding and learning the alphabet. Games also let kids learn mouse clicking skills, moving the mouse arrow around the page through making faces games and parts of the body games.

    Fun Blaster Arcade

    • Fun Blaster Arcade uses the Type Me game to teach preschoolers keyboarding skills while learning the alphabet. In this free online game, kids rescue falling letters and words by typing them on the keyboard. The Super Hyper Spider Typer game lets kids move at their own pace as they become more and more familiar with the location of letters on the keyboard. Hungry lizards want to capture the hairy spider, and by typing the letters on the lizards' backs as quickly as possible, kids save the spider.

    Aven's Corner

    • Aven's Corner features free online keyboarding games for preschoolers. This website uses recognizing letters with keyboarding skills to teach kids their way around the keyboard. Other games reinforce mouse handling skills and the use of the arrows in fun arcade-like games.
