Preschool Flip-Flop Games

Games and flip-flops are synonymous with warm weather fun. Help your preschool children to discover new sources of fun with flip-flop games. Brightly hued flip-flops elicit smiles from preschoolers. Engage the children in a variety of hands-on games as they practice readiness skills. Bring your flip-flops and join the fun.
  1. Mystery Game

    • Send a note home to parents requesting that the children bring a pair of flip-flops to school. Let the children sit in a circle. Tell them to remove their flip-flops and place them in the middle of the circle. Pick one of the shoes and ask a child, "Whose flip-flop is this?" The child returns the flip-flop to its owner if he answers correctly. The flip-flop remains with the other shoes if the guess is incorrect. Go around the circle and permit the children to offer guesses until the pile of flip-flops disappears.

    Friend Game

    • Place one flip-flop sticker from a pair of stickers on an index card. Put the remaining sticker on another index card. Repeat this process until every child has an index card. Tell the children to find a friend who has a matching flip-flop sticker. Ask the children to talk with their flip-flop friend about a favorite game.

    Letter and Number Matching Games

    • Cut out and laminate flip-flop pairs that picture upper and lower case letters (such as seen on www.thevirtualvine.com). The children match flip-flop pairs of corresponding upper and lower case letters. A modification of the game lets children match number sets to the corresponding number. Cut out and laminate flip-flop pairs showing a number set of stars and a corresponding number.

Matching Colors and Color Words Game

    • Cut and laminate pairs of flip-flops. Write a color word on one shoe and color the other shoe to match the color word. The children match color words on the flip-flops with the correct corresponding colors.
