Preschool Body Part Games

Preschoolers love to touch and explore their environments. One way to teach preschoolers about body parts is through exciting games. Games make learning about body parts easy and memorable. Awarding prizes, such as stickers, pencils and notepads, to game winners will keep the preschoolers anxiously awaiting the next body part game.
  1. Body Part Match-Up

    • Have each preschooler select a partner and stand side-by-side. Before you start the game, go over all the body parts, such as head, elbows, knees, arms, legs, back and feet, with the preschoolers. To start the game, call out a body part. If you say elbow, the pairs must touch their elbows together. If you say back, the pairs must stand back-to-back. The last team to complete the task is out of the game. The last team standing wins the game.

    Body Part Beanbag Toss

    • Draw a person on a large poster board and tape it to the bottom of a cardboard box. Cut out several holes on different parts of the body, such as the head, stomach, feet, arm and knee. Do not label the body parts. Lean the box up against a wall. Purchase beanbags at your local craft store, or make your own, using dried beans or uncooked rice, socks and rubber bands. Mark a starting line a couple of feet from the box and have the preschoolers line up. One at a time, they must toss a beanbag into one of the holes. The preschooler must tell you what body part the beanbag landed in to earn a small prize.

    Musical Squares

    • Place several pieces of different-colored construction paper on the floor, one less paper than you have preschoolers. Play music and tell the preschoolers to walk around the colored squares. When the music stops, yell the name of a body part. For example, if you say, "hand," the children must run to a square and place their hand on it. The child left without a square is out of the game. Remove a piece of construction paper and keep playing. Each time, call out a different body part, such as elbow, foot or back. The last player in the game wins.

    Body Part Circle

    • Stand in a circle with all your preschoolers. Call out a body part, such as left foot, and the children must raise their left foot in the circle. Keep calling out different body parts like elbow, head and shoulders. Each time you call out a body part, the children must put that body part in the circle. Award a small prize to each preschooler for participation. This game helps the preschoolers learn their body parts.
