How to Teach Preschool Multicultural Education

It is important to teach your preschool students about diversity and other cultures. Every person is different, and activities with a multicultural theme will help students understand that differences are good and make the world a better place. Activities can be verbal, audio, tactile, or all three. The children will enjoy learning about other cultures and trying things that people do in other countries. Activities are relatively simple to develop and perform with your students.

Instructions

    • 1

Assign each child a country for which they can get props or costumes from home. Ask each child to wear a costume from the assigned country on a specific day.

    • 2

Take a picture of each child in costume. Print the pictures and staple them to folded pieces of construction paper to make passports.

    • 3

Study a different country each month. Watch movies about this country, play some of its games and learn a few words in its language.

    • 4

Celebrate other countries' cultural holidays, such as Cinco de Mayo or Chinese New Year. Bring in traditional food and decorations for the party.
