Introduce the weather theme by reading a book that talks about basic weather facts. Help your class compile a list of what they already know about weather.
Include weather activities is several areas of your classroom. The math area could include a daily weather graph, dramatic play could include dress-up clothes appropriate for different seasons and your reading area could be filled with weather-themed books.
Relate weather to the daily life of your students. Ask them why they chose to wear shorts, or why they should not wear sandals in the snow.
Center your art activities around the weather theme. For instance, when discussing wind have children blow paint across paper using a straw to demonstrate how wind can move things around.
Help your children to make a list of everything they have learned about weather at the end of your theme. Compare this list to the one made at the beginning to illustrate how much they have learned.
