Teach the address to the tune of a well-known song. Most young children enjoy singing and are able to remember lyrics without too much difficulty. Show children how to sing their address to the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell". For example, "I live on Main Street West," "I live on Main Street West," "1432, is my house on Main Street West."
Line students up by address. When you get ready to go to lunch or the playground, read out an address. If the student recognizes their address, they get in line. This activity keeps a preschooler's attention and helps them remember their address.
Have students practice saying their addresses in mock scenarios. Choose three or four students to participate in a skit where one child pretends they are lost in a store. The other students act as employees who ask the lost child her name and address. Allow everyone to participate in similar skits throughout the next few weeks.
