How to Make Jungle Animals to Hang in a Preschool Room

A jungle-themed classroom is an ideal way to teach young children about the multifaceted ecology of the jungle. Preschoolers will be encouraged to learn in an environment that bolsters their imagination using their favorite animals. Hanging around with a monkey during story time or lying with a lion at nap time gives traditional preschool activities a twist. Your classroom jungle decorations can change the old and boring into something new and fascinating.

Instructions

    • 1

Print out jungle animal coloring pages that will fit in with your lesson plan. Consider elephant, toucan, giraffe, snake, hippopotamus, money and lion when you make your choices.

    • 2

Tape a large sheet of mural paper or colored construction paper to the wall. Size the paper according to the animal you want to make. Position the projector in front of the paper.

    • 3

Lay a transparency sheet on top of each coloring page and trace the lines with a permanent marker. Put the transparency sheet on the projector and turn it on.

    • 4

Adjust the projector to make the image fit on the paper. Moving the projector forward will make the image smaller, while moving it back will magnify the image.

    • 5

Trace the lines for the animals using a pencil. Color the image using crayons, markers or paint. Cut out each image when your done.

    • 6

Punch a hole in the head of each animal to hang them from the ceiling, or tape the animals to the wall and doors in the room. The toucan can “fly” from the ceiling, while a happier home for the lion might be on the door.
