Kindergarten Bulletin Board Ideas With a Jungle Theme

Decorate a kindergarten bulletin board with painted trees, paper vines and colorful jungle-dwelling creatures. Greet kindergartners at the beginning of the school year with a jungle-themed board. Later in the school year, display children's artistic jungle creations on a classroom board. Choose from a variety of materials to create the foundation for a jungle-themed board. Finish the display with teacher-made items or works of kindergartner's classroom art.
  1. Border Ideas

    • Plain green, brown or blue borders, already stocked in your kindergarten classroom, are appropriate for jungle-themed boards. Borders specifically designed for use with jungle-themed bulletin boards -- in animal, tropical-plant or rainforest designs -- are available where teacher supplies are sold. Choose a premade border or use other materials to rim the board. Staple clumps of green Easter grass or green paper strips around the board. Cut coconut shapes from brown construction paper, then attach them as a border. Use tropical-colored craft feathers, stapled around the board as a border.

    Background Ideas

    • Deep forest green and lime green are popular background paper colors for a kindergarten jungle-themed bulletin board. Although the color may be your first inclination, your options for background paper color are not limited to hues of green. Choose blue background paper for a daytime jungle scene. A blue background allows the rest of the bulletin board decorations -- many of which may be green -- to show up well in the foreground. Hang a black paper background to delight kindergartners with a classroom bulletin board that depicts the jungle at night.

    Student-Created Decorations

    • Place a menagerie of paper plate jungle animals, created by kindergartners, on a jungle-themed bulletin board. Place the words, "Our Kindergarten Jungle," across the top of your bulletin board. Let the children choose from a selection of animals that call the jungle home to make a work of art. Provide paper plates, scissors and paint. Give kindergartners glue sticks and construction paper to make the animals.

    Teacher-Created Decorations

    • Paint trees and foliage, with a paint brush and brown and green tempera paint, directly onto the background of a jungle-themed bulletin board. Twist long lengths of green crepe-paper streamers to make vines. Staple the vines onto the board beneath the painted leaves on the trees. Attach a picture of a monkey, or a small stuffed monkey, to the end of each vine. Place cut-out letters to spell the words, "No Monkey Business in Our Kindergarten Jungle," across the top of the board, above the trees.
