Print out the pictures for the students to trace. Have the children each choose an animal character they like and give it to them.
Give each child the large bubble letters that spell out their name.
Cut the construction paper to the size that you want the name tags to be. Give each student a piece of construction paper and a piece of tracer paper.
Give each student a pencil, markers, a box of crayons and tape.
Place the letter shapes that spell out their names on their desks and secure them in place with the tape.
Place the animal character drawing at the beginning or the end of their name and secure it in place with the tape.
Place the tracer paper over the letters and animal shape and secure it in place with tape.
Tell the students to trace the letters and the animal character with their pencil the best they can.
Tell the students to remove the letters and animals from under the tracer paper once students have finished tracing them.
Turn the piece of tracer paper over so that the underside is facing up. To finish the name tag, you can guide the students in transferring the images on to the construction paper, or you can do it yourself.
Hold the pencil sideways and move it in a sideways motion filling the back of the tracer paper, making sure to cover all the letters and the animal.
Place the construction paper on the desk and secure it in place with tape.
Place the tracer paper (coated side down) over the construction paper and secure it in place with the tape.
Take the pencil and trace the lettering and the animal character using a little pressure.
Remove the tracer paper after tracing all the letters and animal. Students' names and animal mascots will now be on the piece of construction paper.
Go over the letters and the animals with markers to make it more visible.
Color and decorate the piece of construction paper with crayons.
