Among its achievements in academic excellence, its 10th grade students ranked first place for three assessments out of 282 school districts, according to Boston Prep.

    Nativity Preparatory School

    • Nativity Preparatory School is a Jesuit middle school for boys. This school's goal is to educate low income families, regardless of the family's faith. In order to become a student, one must live in the city of Boston and qualify based on income. Nativity Prep provides an academically challenging curriculum to boys in grades five and six with emphasis not only on academics but on athletics, as well. This prep school encourages support from parents and opens its doors twice a year for families to view the school and ask questions. Preparing students for both high school and college, this school's goal is to create responsible young men who are dedicated to both education and the community in which they live.

    The Newman School

    • The Newman School is located in the Back Bay neighborhood, but looks for both local and international students. Scholarships and financial aid are available. With a goal of preparing students for college, this high school looks for students who will add their talents and personalities to a community which focuses on activities, volunteering and athletics, including a crew team that utilizes the Charles River. The Newman School prides itself on alumni enrollment in schools such as Brandeis, Purdue, Harvard and Boston University.

    Roxbury Prep Charter School

    • With extended school day hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Roxbury Prep Charter School is a free public middle school in the Boston area instructing grades six through eight. It's strict philosophy and intense curriculum include three hours of nightly homework for the student body of just over 250 students, as of 2010. Roxbury prep improves students with below average academic accomplishments and prepares all students for entrance into competitive preparatory high schools. New enrollment is done without discrimination, and is based on the student's application.
