The Seattle Preparatory School is a Catholic, Jesuit school with a mission of preparing high school students for college, life, and continual learning. Founded in 1891, the school has a history of over 8,000 graduates and an ever-growing student population and campus. The school currently has 680 students in a diverse learning environment of class lectures, community service, AP courses and seminar discussions. An emphasis is placed on students' participation in the learning process, teaching them not simply facts and figures, but ways of problem solving, collaborating and discussing.
The Federal Way Public Academy is a public, college preparatory school that offers students in the Federal Way school district an intensive alternative education. The school has approximately 300 students ranging from grades six to ten. Students are admitted to the academy based on a public lottery system, which admits approximately 60 sixth graders each year. With the highest test scores in the district and top ranking scores in the state, this rigorous education can provide students within the public system an advantage towards college or other future pursuits.
Founded in 1976, University Prep is a private school located outside of Seattle in the Puget Sound area. The school serves students in grades six through twelve and provides an intensive education that encourages learning, curiosity, and social awareness. The school enrolls over 500 students in small class sizes and a diverse environment. The school emphasizes strength within areas of core curriculum such as English, sciences, math and history. In addition, University Prep also requires students to study foreign language and fine arts, encouraging a well-rounded education.
The Center School is an alternative public high school located in the heart of Seattle. This school has a focus on college-prep, art courses and community integration. Founded in 2001, The Center School emphasizes learning outside of the classroom for its small student body of 300. Students are offered a variety of AP courses, intensive classes based on graduation requirements that prepare students for college, arts programs such as creative writing and Seattle Rep drama and a number of cultural experiences and opportunities. Open to students grades nine through twelve, the Center School can provide a quality and innovative education for students within the Seattle School District.
