How to Write an Education Newsletter

According to Newsletter Writing Tips, the first thing that you must do is determine the purpose of the newsletter. An education newsletter should have the purpose of informing parents, students and community residents about the happenings at the local school district. For many people, the newsletter may be the only source of information available regarding the current events. It should be informative and treated as an important way to communicate with interested parties.

Be informative. Include a section in the newsletter about what kind of progress is being made in the classroom as well as with committees such as PTA. This will inform people about what kinds of goals are being set as well as how they are being met. Communicate how the different associations are remaining active and how they are contributing to meeting the goals

Allow parents to participate. Have a section where parents can write in and have their questions answered regarding their child's education. Publishing answers to these questions will allow parents to express an interest in the educational process as well as provide feedback.

    • 3

Include photos. Have pictures displayed from recent events with captions explaining what is going on. Be sure to include pictures from sports teams, clubs, associations and any assembles that have recently taken place.

    • 4

Provide a calender of all upcoming activities. A calender should include sports schedules, days when class is not in session, meetings that are open to parents and important testing dates. You may also include the school lunch menu.

    • 5

Highlight each grade level. This will provide people an in-depth look as to what is going on in each classroom. Include information on the curriculum that is being taught, any special activities that the students from each grade have participated in as well as any individual accomplishments.
