Take pictures of students engaged in school work and activities.
Have one or two students verbally report on an activity. Have them describe what they are doing and what they like or dislike about it, for instance. Write down or record what they say. If you record their words, you will need to transcribe the recording later to write their article.
Select computer software such as Microsoft Word to create your newsletter.
On your computer, type up your students' articles and place them on your newsletter. Make sure to include your students' names in the byline. Create headlines using familiar preschool terms.
Transfer photographs to your computer and place them near the articles. Make sure to label your photographs with captions.
Scan selected student artwork onto your computer and place a mini version in the newsletter. Don't forget to include the artists' names.
Include preschool-level activities. For instance, post a picture of a red crayon and several pictures of red items and a few different-colored items.Type the instructions, "Circle the items that are red." Include a few jokes and riddles. Consider including simple fiction stories and craft activities.
Print the newsletter and distribute it to your students so they can read it with their parents or caregivers.
