Write out your standard contact information at the top of your CV. Provide your full name, address, telephone number and email address.
Add a section with a header entitled "Education." Present your educational experience with your most recent degree first. Include the dates you attended each university and the degree you completed them. You should also include any information about residencies, fellowships and certificates you've earned in the education section.
Describe your dissertation or thesis in a section entitled "Dissertation" or "Thesis." This should be no more than a 150 word description of your research. Briefly describe the research question and key findings from your research.
Include a section describing relevant professional experience. You may insert a header entitled "Experience." Include the position title, name and location of employer, name and contact number of a supervisor and the time frame for the job.
Proceed with a section labeled "Conference Presentations." Include the presentation title, conference title, year and location. Present this in reverse chronological order.
Write a section entitled "Publications." You'll want to separate publications by publication type. Create subheadings like "Peer-Reviewed Articles," "Book Chapters or Collections," "Conference Proceedings" and "Book Reviews." Include the title of the article, publication source and date of publication. Cite this material in the format that is standard for your field. For example, those in Psychology should use the APA style, while those in English should use the MLA style.
Add a section for "Awards and Grants." List all relevant awards and the year you were granted the award.
List any professional affiliations if you belong to any professional associations.
Conclude the CV by listing any licensure if your field requires you to be licensed by a state or federal board.
