How to Hook Up a V.Smile

The V.Smile is an educational tool developed by VTech Kids that can be used to teach your kids about math, science, spelling and more -- all via a television set and included joystick. It's like a video game, except that it comes with a myriad of educational benefits. The V.Smile can be hooked up by anyone with a standard television with video IN and audio IN terminals. If your TV lacks these ports, you may connect your V.Smile to your VCR instead.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery cover from the bottom of the main unit, insert three separately purchased size "C" batteries and then replace the cover. If, on the other hand, you want to power the V-Smile via an outlet, then plug the included power jack into the 9V DC socket at the back of the unit, attach the other end to the included VTech 9V AC/DC adapter and then plug the other end of the adapter into a wall socket.

    • 2

Insert the three attached RC cords (yellow, white and red) into the corresponding terminals on your television. If your television lacks these terminals, connect the cords to the corresponding terminals on your VCR.

    • 3

Connect the cord from the joystick into the "Player 1" joystick socket on the front panel of the main unit.

    • 4

Insert a Smartridge, which is like a game console, into the Smartridge slot on the front of the unit, right above the "V.Smile" logo. The V-Smile comes with one included Smartridge, but you can purchase more from VTech's website.
