Visit the admissions office of the college you are transferring to in the U.S., and ask for its transfer admission requirements form to get acquainted with its admission rules and requirements. Be advised that in the U.S. most universities and colleges will only accept U.K. degrees from specific types of educational institutions. For instance, various U.S. colleges will only grant credits from institutions that are authorized by the U.K.'s Ministry of Education, or from tertiary-level institutions.
Contact the person in charge of evaluating the college transfer credits at the U.S. university you want to attend. You can get this information by accessing the college's admissions website or by browsing through the college's registrar. In the U.S. this person is referred to as the "transfer credit evaluator" or "college counselor." Talk to this person about your college transfer needs and ask for information regarding what documents they require, when they need them and how should you send them (i.e. fax, mail, email).
Contact the educational institution in the U.K. where you got your degree and request your official transcripts, which contain the college credits you took and the degree you attained. Generally, you will also need your GPA and test scores.
Submit the admission application at the U.S. educational institution you want to attend. You can accomplish this in person, or online if the educational institution makes it available. The admission process involves providing your U.K. educational institution's name, country of origin and contact information. You will also need to verify that the U.K. educational institution has mailed your official transcripts to the U.S. university.
Contact the admissions office of the U.S. university to check if your official transcripts have been received. Keep in mind that this process may take five to 14 days, depending on how the documents were sent. Ask the admissions office if you can check the status online so you can verify when they received your transcripts. Once they have reviewed your admission application and your official transcripts, you will be notified if you are admitted. In some cases, you may need to take additional tests to compensate for college credits.
