Many test score results are presented as a T Score. A T Score reports what percentile a score sits in relation to the established distribution. While that provides useful information, you may want to know more information about your score on a standardized test. A Z score reflects how many standard deviation units above or below the mean your score falls. A score that is exactly the same as the mean would have a Z score of "0." Scores higher than the average are positive, and scores lower than the mean are negative.
Instructions

-
1
Subtract 50 from your T score.
-
2
Divide your subtracted score by 10 to get the Z score. Use a calculator if needed to complete your computations.

Check your answer. If your T score was less than 50, your answer should be a negative value. If your T score was exactly 50, your answer should be zero. Your Z score will be positive if your T score was above 50.
