How to Use Answer Memory on a Casio FX-300 Calculator

The Japanese electronics giant Casio has been producing pocket calculators since 1957. The fx-300MS and fx-300ES are multi-function scientific devices capable of performing a wide range of mathematical calculations. Both solar powered, the ES model features a two-line display that aims to reproduce fractions and square roots the way they appear in textbooks. Both models feature an answer memory function which can assist when performing a series of linked calculations.

Instructions

    • 1

Perform your first calculation. The result is automatically stored in the answer memory as soon as you press the "=" key. The result remains stored even if you press the "AC" key or switch the calculator off.

    • 2

Press the key for the next function you wish to perform. "Ans" will appear on the screen indicating that the value stored in the answer memory is being utilized. For example, if you were to use the calculator to multiply 124 by 307, the answer of 38,068 would appear on the screen. To divide this answer by 26, press the division symbol. "Ans" will appear on the screen showing that the value of the original answer is being used in the calculation.

    • 3

Recall the current stored value at any time by pressing the "Ans" key. For example, to divide 437 by the value in the answer memory, enter 437 into the keypad then press the division symbol followed by the "Ans" key. The calculator will then divide 437 by whatever value is stored in the answer memory.
