Not all schools can afford to buy enough supplies for their students. For example, students might not be able to take textbooks or novels home with them because there simply is not enough for everyone. Furthermore, as technology becomes more important in the classroom, more students and classes start to fall behind. Not all schools can afford to put SmartBoards in all of their classrooms, if any at all.
If students are facing money problems at home due to a parent being out of work or other factors, their school life can be adversely affected. For example, the student might be required to work to help support the family and, in turn, his school work suffers. Additionally, some parents might not be able to afford adequate notebooks for the students to write in or laptops at home for the students to conduct research on.
There is a movement to have healthier lunches at schools for children, but it's important to remember that healthy lunches are generally more expensive than less healthy choices. Therefore, parents might not be able to send their children with enough money for these healthy alternatives. Furthermore, if the school itself does not have enough money, it cannot purchase many -- if any at all -- healthy school lunches from its suppliers.
If schools do not have a lot of money, they cannot always accommodate students with special needs or present opportunities for honors students as well as wealthier districts can. Furthermore, the school may not have enough money to do repairs, which would lead to dangerous and uncomfortable conditions for the students to have to learn in. Classrooms may be bare bones, without any sort of positive reinforcement or educational posters on the walls and blackboard.
