Browse online to find stock images to use in your presentation. Some websites offer free digital photographs, such as FreeFoto and iStockPhoto. You can also browse for clip art in image editing programs to find an image to use as a background picture. Choose an image related to your topic.
Download the image and save it to your "Pictures" file folder on your computer's hard drive.
Open your image editing program and click "Open." Browse for the image or images you are going to use on your tri-fold.
Experiment with the options for the color scheme of the image. You can give it a black and white effect or a watermark effect to make the image more muted so it will not detract from the main details of the tri-fold presentation.
Print the image out on a piece of standard computer paper once you have achieved your desired effect. Do not touch the paper until the ink has dried completely.
Cut the image out of the piece of computer paper. Cut out a rectangular piece of black construction paper slightly bigger than the image. Glue the image to the piece of construction paper, and glue to construction paper onto your tri-fold board.
Place the paper containing your text or chart over the background picture. The image's subtle tones will enhance the information you are presenting, resulting in a more attractive tri-fold board.
