Give each child a toilet paper roll to decorate. Children can paint solid designs, patterns or details on the toilet paper roll. They can also use crayons to decorate or construction paper to cover the roll or cut shapes out of to glue onto the roll. Encourage them to be creative.
Provide children with the stencils and construction paper or cardstock. Each child should trace the stencils, then cut out their blades. Again, they can decorate the blades with paint, crayons or other construction paper pieces.
Give each child metal brads to attach the blades to the windmill. Older children will be able to puncture a hole themselves through the windmill blades and toilet paper roll. Younger children will need adult assistance.
Provide a fan for students to use to see their windmills in action. Create a windmill garden on a table to showcase the children's artwork.
