How to Make Pictures Using Hand Prints

Art is a matter of taste so when making hand print pictures with your preschooler, do not worry if it does not quite look the way it should. Hand print pictures can be made replicating holiday angels, turkeys, a tree, animals with four legs, butterflies and even an ear of corn. With a little creativity and the imagination of a child, you can create almost anything with washable paint and a pair of hands.

Instructions

  1. Hand Print Ear of Corn

    • 1

Pour yellow paint onto the bottom only of a paper plate and green paint on a second paper plate. Dip one hand, palm down, into the yellow paint and press, fingers together, onto a piece of construction paper. Allow to dry.

    • 2

Wipe the yellow paint away from your hands with a wet paper towel. Wash you hands with soap and water if necessary to avoid mixing wet paint colors.

    • 3

Dip both hands into the green paint and press your hands onto the construction paper, with the heel of your palms slightly touching and fingers together. The prints should create the green corn husk around the yellow corn hand print in a "V" shape.

    Hand Print Sheep

    • 4

Pour enough black paint onto a paper plate to just cover the bottom. Dip your hand into the paint and press onto a piece of construction paper, fingers apart. Allow to dry and wipe off the paint from your hands with the wet paper towels.

    • 5

Turn the paper around so the four fingers on the hand print are pointing toward you to appear as sheep legs. Glue cotton balls over the palm section of the hand print and a wiggly eye on the thumb head.

    • 6

Use a your pinky finger, dip it into the black paint and dab it twice on the top of the hand print's thumb to create sheep ears.
