For this game, separate the class into two teams of three or four kids each. Each group will be given toilet paper and streamers. Within each group, a student should be selected to be the "Mummy." When you command, "Go!" all the kids are to start wrapping the mummy as fast as they can. For additional fun, you can holler the colors the team are to use at the time. The first team to have their mummy completely covered wins a prize.
Pumpkins are plump staples of the Halloween holiday, but they also present built-in math lessons. For example, you can cut out large pumpkin shapes from orange felt. Have the children glue the pieces to cardboard or a chipboard. Then cut triangle and square pieces from black felt and instruct the children to create a Jack O'Lantern face. This game is a great way to teach shapes. Another game for preschoolers is a pumpkin seed count. Place a certain number of pumpkin seeds in a jar. Have the children each guess a number, and the pupil who is the closest to the actual number of seeds wins a prize.
Preschoolers like to dance, so grab a CD player and jam out to many songs of the Halloween season, such as "Monster Mash" and Michael Jackson's hit song "Thriller." Dancing is a great way to get the children exercising. Play these tunes during a special Halloween game of musical chairs. You can have several different games within your class dance-a-thon. Some examples include bobbing for apples, pin the tail on the black cat and a mask-making contest with paper plates.
Go ghost-hunting this Halloween with a fun craft that can also turn into an interactive game. To begin, cut white construction paper into four-inch-by-five-inch pieces. Roll the paper and tap so that you are forming tubes. You will now have each child draw his name on the "ghost caller." Next, it is time for the hunt. Show the class two ghost figurines or two drawings. Have the children close their eyes while you hide the ghosts. After the ghost is hidden, count, "One, two, three. Ghost!" The children then use their ghost callers to search for the missing spirits. The two children who find the ghosts get to make ghost sounds for the next ghost hunt. It is best to continue the game until all of the children have had a turn making ghost sounds.
