How to Make Clocks Using Paper Plates

Creating a paper plate clock is a great way to teach children at a young age how to tell time. When the clock is finished, it can be decorated using virtually any type of craft imaginable. After it has been decorated, practice telling time with your child by setting the clock to different times for an inexpensive and fun learning experience.

Instructions

    • 1

Write the hour numbers around the rim of the plate, just as they would appear on a real clock.

    • 2

Draw two arrows on the construction paper. Ensure one arrow is larger than the other arrow, to represent the minute and hour hands of the clock.

    • 3

Cut the arrows out of the construction paper and make a hole at the end of both arrows.

    • 4

Insert the metal fastener into the holes formed in the arrows, and push the fastener through the center of the paper plate. Secure the fastener to the back of the paper play by bending the two prongs in opposite directions.

    • 5

Decorate the paper plate using the markers and other crafts to finish building the clock.
