If you must stay home for medical reasons, you can earn your diploma.

Contact your local school district. If you must stay at home to earn a high school diploma for medical reasons, your local public school district can help you by providing an instructor to come to your home. For your district to provide this service, you must be confined to your home by a doctor's orders for five or more days.

Some school districts offer online virtual high schools.

Check with your school district to see if it is one of the four in Michigan offering an online virtual high school option for at-risk students. The Clio School District is one that offers this option. Classes are offered completely online, and students complete research projects in their personalized high school graduation programs. Qualified teachers supervise students' progress as they move through the program.

Study at home with a private school's home-based high school curricula.

Complete a home-based education program from a Michigan-based private school, such as the regionally-accredited Clonara School. Students who complete these types of high school programs do not receive a state-endorsed high school diploma, but they do receive a high school diploma from an accredited high school.
