Record an official transcript for all home-school coursework. Label columns for the duration of study, course description, grade, credit and course title.
Determine if each course is one or one-half credit. Input "1.0" under the "Credit" column if the academic course required a text by a reputable and up-to-date publisher. Write in "1.0" if the course required a year for completion. Record "0.5" for all courses that require a half-year or one semester to finish.
Log the hours that your child spends on work for courses that don't use standard high school textbooks. Ensure that your child completes 120 to 180 hours of coursework to obtain one credit, about 60 hours for a half credit and 30 hours for a quarter credit, if applicable.
Record any college or advanced placement (AP) credits that your child is taking, where three college credits are comparable to a one-credit high school course. Maintain copies of transcripts from regionally accredited colleges and high schools.
Sign your child's home-school transcript to make it official. Contact any chosen colleges' admissions departments to verify that the transcript meets the minimum academic requirements.
