Check the laws in your state or province. Homeschooling is legal everywhere in the United States and Canada, but different states have different regulations. Some only require that you notify the local school board if you plan to home school; others will want to test your child once in a while, and others require a curriculum and yearly testing.
Network with other parents who home school. Other parents can be a terrific resource for information, materials and especially emotional support, if you're unsure of what you should be doing.
Use the Internet. You can get an entire curriculum online for any level from kindergarten to 12th grade. Or you can simply check your site to print free writing and math exercises. Some things are not free, but there are many resources to help you home school your child.
Hire tutors. If you didn't graduate from high school and you have a child at that level, you can hire tutors to help her with subjects you're not comfortable with. You can also pool your resources with other families that home school and hire a group tutor or teacher to save money.
