Follow the author-date format of in-text citation. For example, within the text after the quote or reference, list the author's last name followed by the year (Estlund, 2010.) At the end of the article you will credit the entire publication.
Make reference to the author and publication in-text only if you are referring to the author's ideas and not quoting him directly.
Capitalize proper nouns and capitalize the author's last name and initial: S. Estlund.
Capitalize all words in the title being cited that are four letters or longer. For example, when referring to a title in your in-text citations, if the title has words that are four letters or longer, you need to capitalize those words. If the word "and" is in the title, don't capitalize it. If the word "there" appears in the title you would capitalize it because it's more than four letters.
Capitalize any adverbs, adjectives, pronouns, nouns and verbs that appear in a title. This is an exception to Step 4. For example if the word "Old" appears in a title "Writing Old Stories," capitalize "Old" as it is an adjective in this title.
Capitalize only the first word in the title in the References section at the end of the article. For example, the in-text citation for "Writing Old Stories" would appear with all three words capitalized in the text; however, would appear as "Writing old stories" in the References section at the end of the article.
Capitalize both words in a hyphenated word that appears in a title. For example, if the title includes the word "Heavy-Hitter" you would capitalize both "Heavy" and "Hitter" in the in-text citation.
Capitalize the first word after a dash or colon in a title. For example, the title "Writing Old Stories: Heavy Hitters," would appear with all words capitalized in the in-text citation.
Cite a short in-text quote with an introduction such as "According to Estlund (2010), "and the quote would go here."
Cite a long in-text quotation by introducing the author, stating the year and placing a colon before the quote. For example:
According to Estlund (2010):
"And the quote would go here..."
