    Simmons College

    • Simmons College offers a Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children. It provides a rigorous study of children's books for those who want to become writers. It also helps students develop the necessary vocabulary as well as other skills for book writing. Simmons offers an optional dual degree program with a Master of Arts in Children's Literature. Eight courses are needed for the degree which is generally completed in three to five semesters.

    Gotham College

    • Gotham College offers two possible ways of taking courses on writing for children. You may attend a 10-week workshop in New York that covers feedback from instructors. At level one you begin to write a book, and at level two you complete the book. Gotham also offers online courses which have attracted more than 1900 students since 1997. For this, you work at your own pace, submit writing for critiques, read lectures and communicate with classmates, as well as the instructor.
