Larry Williams is the all-time World Cup Trading Cup Champion, which is like the World Series for traders, for having turned $10,000 into a $1.1 million in a single year in 1987. To silence his critics in 1997 he had his 16 year old daughter Michelle Williams enter the competition and she turned $10,000 into $100,000 in a year to earn the second best ever finish in the competition. With over 40 years of experience Larry Williams offers free monthly videos where he discusses potential moves in the stock and commodity markets on Larry TV and through his free newsletter. He also offers more formal training in his three courses. The first course is called "Cracking the Money Code" and goes over the fundamentals of commodities investing, including how to use seasonal trends, and how to use the Williams %R indicator. Level 2 is called "Sure Thing Commodity Trading Online Course" and goes on to other techniques such as how to use the Commitment of Traders Report (COT) to tell when the markets are going to make a big move, and how to use the sentiment index to know what other traders are thinking. The final course is called "Picture Perfect Trades for Stocks and Commodities." This program teaches you how to use some of Larry's custom indicators such as the Commercial Proxy Indicator (used on stocks) and his WillTrend Indicator. He also teaches you how to find what he calls "Picture Perfect Patterns" that predict what a commodity may do.
This online course is completely free and they offer 12 lessons in all. The lessons start of with the question "What is a commodity?", and goes on to discuss the basics of futures trading, technical analysis, how to place an order, how to create a trading plan, how to trade commodity options and how to trade agricultural and energy commodities. The course is given by Lan Turner and Scott Brown, who have a combined 34 years in the futures trading business. In addition to the free lessons, they also offer videos, articles, tools and webinars, all free of charge. The main reason these courses are free is that they encourage you to use their software and other products and services which do cost money.
In 1983, commodities trader Richard Dennis, who was worth $200 million at the time, and his business William Eckhardt, took a group of 23 people who had never traded before and over the course of two weeks taught them to trade in commodity futures. They called them the "Turtle Traders." They gave each of them $1 million to manage and from that group 20 people were successful and 3 failed. Many of those that succeeded went on to become managers of their own multi-million dollar hedge funds. Entrepreneur and author Michael Covel has taken the rules and lessons that were created for the "Turtle Traders" and has created a course complete with interviews with some of the top traders in 2010. Some of the things the course covers include how to enter a trade, money management and when to exit a trade. The course also offers up to 18 months of client support.
Common Sense Commodities is a trading school put together by commodity trading advisor David Duty, who has been teaching people to trade since 2001. He also offers personal mentoring to supplement the course via e-mail and instant messengers.
