Located in nearby Ardmore, the Barbizon Modeling School was founded in 1939 in New York City. The school offers programs in commercial print modeling and fashion modeling. Fashion models should be between the ages of 14 and 21, be between 5'8" and 6' tall and weigh between 108 and 125 lbs. The commercial print modeling program is open to anyone who can pass the audition. Men, children and plus size models are also featured at the Barbizon Modeling School. The curriculum at the school offers classes in professional photo movement, modeling in groups and pairs, product modeling and runway modeling. The school also focuses on skin, nail and hair care, along with makeup artistry, nutrition and exercise. Prospective students must audition before enrolling in the program. Clients that book students and graduates from the school include high-end fashion designers, such as Chanel, Prada and Tom Ford and companies like Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue and Benetton. John Casablancas is the founder of Elite Model Management International which is the largest modeling agency worldwide. The school is licensed by the State Board of Education. Programs include professional modeling, latest runway techniques, how to work with photographers, as well as exercise and nutrition. Aspiring models must audition through a personal interview and meet certain requirements to be chosen to attend the school, which include height (for runway), an energy and passion to become part of the program, and poise and professionalism.
