How to Take Care of Human Hair Lace-Front Wigs

A lace-front wig is lighter than most wigs and has an underneath lace lining that gives it a more realistic look; the hair appears to be growing from your scalp when worn. Manufacturers use natural Indian Remy and Asian Remy hair to make the wigs. Each strand of hair is handwoven onto a polyester mesh that is later attached to your hair. Many people prefer human hair lace-front wigs because they are flat and move like human hair, they are not bulky and can be styled by flat ironing and blow drying, just like human hair. However, its lifespan depends on how well you take care of it.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the wig on the Styrofoam wig head and hold it in place using T-pins. Comb out the hair strands, to reduce entanglement when washing. The wig head ensures stability as you comb the hair strands; this gives a feeling of combing hair on a human head.

    • 2

Put one tablespoon of lace wig shampoo into a spray bottle and add lukewarm water. Spray the wig with this solution as you comb it with a wide-toothed comb. Mix a tablespoon of conditioner and lukewarm water then spread the conditioner on the wig using the wide-tooth comb.

    • 3

Rinse the wig with cool water and blot it with the towel. Apply the knot sealer after air drying it, to ensure your wig does not shed.

    • 4

Place the wig on the wig head or a wig stand after washing, to ensure it maintains its shape. Also use the wig stand when putting your lace-front wig in storage.

    • 5

Wash and keep your hair clean. This helps prevent oil and dirt from being deposited onto the wig when worn. Alternatively wear a wig cap under the wig.

    • 6

Practice proper attachment and removal of the wig. Attach the wig to your hairline using liquid adhesive or wig adhesive tape and ensure you clean and prep your hairline before attaching. Remove the wig using spray C-22, 99 percent alcohol and Lace Release. Be careful not to pull the wig or force it off.
