Visit a beauty shop and ask for a hair color chart. Place the chart against your hair and find the color of your hair or that closest to your hair. From the options available, select the shade you want to change to, at least three shades from your hair’s natural color.
Select two or three colors in the same range from the chart and purchase the individual colors, preferably from the same manufacturer. Choose shades close in color for effective results.
Prepare mixing containers for the number of hair colors you have, as you will prepare the colors individually. Put the dye bases in the containers followed by the color activator or developer, and then the dye. Stir each container thoroughly to prepare the individual dyes.
Pour the dyes into one container by layering the colors; pour a quarter of the first color followed by the second color and the first color again in that order until the colors are all in the same container. Stir the colors within the container until the colors combine.
Leave the dye to settle for a minimum of 15 minutes before application on hair.
