Shower often to help keep your skin and hair clean. Taking a shower also helps keep your body from smelling. Until you reach puberty, your sweat might not smell much, but keeping your body clean with mild soap keeps your skin healthy and cuts down on build-up of dirt and grime.

    • 2

Wash your clothes or ask someone to help you keep your clothes clean. Wearing clean clothes helps keep your skin healthy and also cuts down on body odor.

    • 3

Eat three main meals a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner provide your growing body with essential nutrients to help you through the day and to help you continue growing in a healthy manner. Stay away from eating and drinking junk foods, such as potato chips, candy and soda. These types of foods and beverages have extra calories, sugar and fats that aren't beneficial to your body.

Drink water or milk during the day to stay hydrated. Kids Health suggests drinking three cups of milk a day for strong bones. If you're not a fan of milk, make sure to include cheese or yogurt in your diet. For a calcium-rich treat, make a smoothie with one cup of yogurt, one cup of milk, a tablespoon of peanut butter and some ice.

Exercise every day. Staying active by playing games such as soccer or basketball or by running or dancing is an easy and fun way to stay fit. When your body gets regular exercise, it burns calories and builds healthy and strong muscles. Being active also keeps your weight down, which keeps you at a lower risk for diseases such as diabetes.

    • 6

Brush your teeth with a toothbrush and toothpaste after meals. Keeping your teeth healthy is beneficial to your entire body because it helps you to properly chew your food. Brush in the morning and at night before bed. If you aren't near your toothbrush, the Children, Youth and Women's Health Service suggests swishing water around in your mouth and then spitting it out to help clean your mouth.

    • 7

Sleep eight hours a night. Getting a good night's sleep helps your body rest and prepare for the next day. When you stay up too late or skimp on sleep, you aren't as alert or active.
