How to Read Human Faces

The art/science of face reading is known as physiognomy or personology. It is amazing what a person's facial features are thought to reveal about their personality. A curved forehead, for example, indicates creativity, while wide eyes denote a sensitive person, and large cheeks mean the person is energetic. It is also interesting to note that if a person's personality changes, their facial characteristics can also change. Start paying attention to signs of eye to eyebrow distance, lip size, face shape, eye depth and ear positioning to determine a person's true identity.

Examine a person's eyes very closely. Deep set eyes are thought to be people who like to observe and are analytical. People with bulging eyes are very energetic. Look at the amount of vertical space between the eye and the eyebrow. Someone with a large distance between their eyebrow and their eye is deemed to be very cautious and someone who takes their time making decisions. Someone with very little distance between their eye and eyebrow will make decisions on the spot and is always ready to try something new.

Check out the person's mouth and chin area. People with large lips are talkative, while those with small lips tend to be quieter and more private individuals. A straight lip line, which is what you see between the lips when the mouth is closed, that has ends which turn down is thought to indicate a pessimist. On the other hand, a lip line that curves upward at the ends denotes an optimist. A person is stubborn in nature if their two middle front teeth are longer than the others and if they have a pointy chin.

Examine the shape of a person's face. A broad face is typically a confident person, while a person with a round face is thought to be sociable and friendly in nature. Take note of facial lines. More than two lines between the eyes indicates the type of person who really pushes themselves hard and expects a lot from themselves. Lines across the top of a nose mean the person is very serious and responsible.

Read the person's cheekbones and facial lines. In personology, protruding cheekbones represent a person who is courageous and who loves adventure. The face lines on the right side of a person's face may differ from facial lines on the left side of the face. Right-side face lines reflect the person's practical side. Left-side lines represent their personal and social traits. A face with an angled left eyebrow combined with a straight right eyebrow indicates a logical thinker in relation to his job who can be a control freak.

Read a person's nose by it's shape and size. A large, protruding nose indicates someone who like to be their own boss. People with small noses are often found carrying out administrative work, as they like systematic tasks and paying attention to detail. Look at the person's nose from the side. If the nose is concave in combination with a round tip, the person is a helper, meaning he enjoys helping other people.
