Set up the Rosetta Stone software on your home computer. Although you can purchase the Rosetta Stone program at any software store, Italian is not always available in stores. You can purchase the Italian version online at the Rosetta Stone Web site (see References below.) Open the box and take out the Users Manual. Follow the set up instructions as directed. Plug in the Rosetta Stone headphones that are included in the Rosetta Stone language program box.
Practice, practice, practice. Set aside at least 30 minutes a day to practice the Italian language. Not only does the program offer a visual format, it also offers a wide variety of audio accompaniment. This greatly helps the learner understand the subtle intonations of the Italian dialect. Make sure to practice both the visual and audio sections of the program every day in order to easily converse in Italian.
Create an "Italian Day" once a week, asking everyone in your home speak only Italian. Being "forced" to speak Italian can be fun and challenging, and can help you get used to conversing in Italian. If you are planning a trip to Italy, knowing how to speak Italian can be extremely helpful. Pretty soon, you will be fluent in Italian and will be able to converse easily with Italian locals.
