Go to the AccountingCoach.com website (see Resources). This is an excellent website for beginners and for free information on learning accounting.
Click on the "Accounting Basics" option. Start here to learn about basic terms such as assets, liability, equity and revenue. Go through all seven lessons and take notes while you read for your own personal reference in the future.
Continue to search through each subject on accounting to learn about account degrees, principles, equations and more. If you have any questions, go to the forum link at the top of the page. Search to see if anyone else had the same question you have. If not, try to connect with other people on the forum who understand accounting.
Review your notes and make sure that you completely understand all of the basic concepts of accounting. If you want to learn more advanced material, you should decide what types of accounting you're interested in, such as managerial or financial (see Resources). Once you know the area that interests you the most, you can consider earning an online degree in accounting.
Go to the online education website (see Resources). Read through the descriptions for each online program, typically through a university, to find out information on different programs and requirements. You can click on the "Request Info" button, if you'd like to receive more information. This will cost you some money, but if you're serious about earning an accounting degree online, then this is the best resource.
