Listen to the lesson all the way through, without trying to pronounce the words at first. This way you will know what you are learning and the style of the instruction. This practice will also help you determine how to best break up the lessons to fit into the time slot you have available.
Pronounce the letters or statements after you hear them. Repeat every time the speaker states something in English. Repeat the statements at least 10 times. Repetition will help you to remember what is said and how it is pronounced.
Stop the lesson after 15 or 20 minutes, even if it is designed to be 30 minutes to an hour. You will learn best if you divide the lesson into shorter segments and review and repeat them.
Be consistent. Work with your audio tape every day.
Practice what you have learned in your daily life. Find opportunities to speak the language with native speakers.
