Once you complete the course you will receive a farrier certification which gives you the mark of an educated farrier, much like a bachelors degree does for a college student. The Schools of Horseshoeing also offers classes to horse owners who wish to learn simply how to trim their horses' feet. Horse trimming classes last for 6 days. They also offer classes in horse dentistry if you are interested in becoming an equine dentist. Dental classes consist of two days of teaching.

They use four different textbooks and videos in order to teach their students, as well as hands-on experience. They teach farriers how to install more than 40 different horseshoes that are used for various purposes. The classes run 5 days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for 8 weeks total.
Meredith Manor is a nationally accredited equestrian college located in Waverly, West Virginia in Wood County. The college offers training and classes in the fields of dressage, jumping, professional riding, breeding, horse health, farrier studies and even forging (blacksmithing shoes and tools). They offer two farrier programs, one for the aspiring farrier who wishes to start a business, and one for the farrier who wishes to start a career and possibly teach later in life. The shoeing course lasts 12 weeks and will teach you everything you need to know about trimming, shoeing and basic foot care. The equine science master course lasts 36 weeks and teaches you everything from shoeing and trimming a horse to learning how to forge tools and manage a barn. It will also help you understand horse health practices and certain horse diseases.
