Adult GED Classes in Gary, Indiana

The General Educational Development test allows individuals without a high school diploma to complete secondary education. The test covers major areas of learning, including, but not limited to, history, math and science. English skills are also necessary in preparing for and successfully completing the test.     • Math is one of the basic skills offered in addition to GED prep at Lake Ridge.

      Lake Ridge Adult Education is a program made available through Lake Ridge Schools. The Adult Education division offers courses in General Educational Development test prep, English as a Second Language (ESL) as well as assistance with basic skills development. The assessment test is offered between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays. Classes are available morning and afternoon, from 9 a.m. to noon and then from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

    King Academy Adult Education

    • The Martin Luther King Jr. Academy offers King Academy Adult Education, which provides educational support for non-traditional students. The academy offers courses in preparation for the General Educational Development test, as well as basic skills assistance in reading, math and writing. English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are offered as well. Students have choices of either day or evening classes and may also undertake the GED practice exam, which is generally offered once monthly.

    International Community Alliance

    • International Community Alliance is a source of GED prep support for Gary's Latin American Community.

      International Community Alliance offers assistance in GED preparation for immigrants and Latin American residents of Gary, county residents and those located in the Northwestern portion of Indiana. Basic skills courses, literacy assistance as well as English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are offered. The center also offers community-based programs and social services geared assistance.

    • Adults of all needs levels can seek skills development, in addition to GED assistance, at TradeWinds.

      TradeWinds Rehabilitation Center, a child/adult centered development organization, offers General Educational Development classes, as well as assistance with job preparedness and placement. The center, which focuses on community needs and services of those with disabilities, also supports in handling employment and office-centered issues. There are day care programs available for individuals of all ages, as well as assistance to those with developmental as well as physical issues. Children without special-needs issues below 6 years of age may also be assisted.
