The Atlantic Cape Community College offers a program called Project Second Chance. According to the school's website, it allows eligible students, which are non-high school graduates at least 18 years old, an opportunity to earn college credits required to apply for the state high school diploma. The program includes 30 hours of college credits. Students are required to complete courses in English, humanities, mathematics, social science and lab science, plus an additional 15 credits in a chosen area of study. While enrolled, students can participate in campus activities. After completion of the program, students can apply for their state-issued high school diploma. Students may also continue on with their education and receive a two-year college degree.

The Ciarco Learning Center at Bergen County Community College offers two courses that help students prepare for the GED test. The first course is designed to teach students basic academic skills. It is a 75-hour program that helps students review the basic principles of reading, writing and math. The second course, which is also 75 hours, caters to students who are familiar with the basic academic skills, but need to review GED test subjects and learn test-taking strategies.

The Mercer County Community College offers GED courses in both Spanish and English. Students must be at least 16 years old to enroll. The GED courses cover the basic academic skills needed to pass the GED test. Those skills include writing, social studies, reading, science and mathematics. According to the school's website, the GED classes are available to students at various locations in the Trenton area, most of which are near public transportation.
