The ostomy care program at Cooper University Hospital is a six hour intensive course that presents care providers with an examination of the products and procedures involved in skin, wound and ostomy care. The course is intended for nursing care workers but is open to any individual interested in becoming more familiar with the fundamentals of wound care.

The wound care certification preparation course offered by the Health Care Association of New Jersey (HCANJ) is a five day program that provides 22 hours of training in wound care twice each year. The course is designed to prepare participants for the Certified Wound Specialist certification examination offered by the National Alliance of Wound Care. The course is available to practical and vocational nurses, physical and occupational therapists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

The program offered by the Wound Care Education Institute is one week in length and is offered at various locations throughout New Jersey. The course provides participants with a thorough knowledge of wound care to reduce the prevalence of pressure ulcers in patient care. The program is intended for qualified care workers employed in nursing homes, home health agencies and other care facilities. Applicants must be registered nurses or licensed practical nurses with a minimum of two years of employment that has involved wound care experience. The certification examination at the end of the program is offered by the National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC). Participants must obtain a minimum score of 70 percent to be eligible for NAWC certification.

The basic program prepares students to write the Certified Wound Care Associate (CWCA) examination while the advanced program prepares students to write the Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) examination. This advanced program is also appropriate for recertification preparation for practitioners. Each program is accredited by the American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM) and utilizes evidence-based teaching modules.
