Universities in New Jersey That Have Online Courses

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, two-thirds of all colleges and universities now offer distance learning courses. New Jersey universities are no exception; many of the state's institutions offer online courses. Whether students choose to take one online class to save on commuting costs or a full Internet-based curriculum, these online credits apply toward a traditional, university-issued degree.
  1. Rutgers University

    • Founded in 1766, Rutgers is New Jersey's largest university. As of 2009, more than 52,000 students were enrolled in nearly 300 study programs. The school is the 55th best university in the world according to the "Academic Ranking of World Universities 2008," ranking higher than some Ivy League schools.

Online graduate level courses are offered in nursing, library science and accounting. These classes are taught entirely online, so students never have to attend on-campus lectures. In addition, Rutgers offers an online graduate certificate from the School of Management and Labor Relations, as well as noncredit courses in several disciplines.
