Christian Universities That Have Wrestling

Just because you're pursuing a Christian higher education doesn't mean that you're going to give up on extracurricular activities. For those who have an interest in collegiate wrestling, there is no reason to sacrifice your pursuit of a Christian education. You may not have considered it, but there are ways for you to pursue your faith, your education and your athletic pursuits all at the same place.
  1. California Baptist University

    • California Baptist University is a privately-funded university that provides both bachelor's and masters degrees. The campus is located in San Bernadino, Calif., but also offers courses online. The university is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The university aims to provide students with a top-notch education as well as guide them spiritually and socially. In the fall of 2009 the enrollment at California Baptists was 4,100. There are 90 undergraduate programs and 25 graduate programs. All faculty members at CBU are Christians. In addition to wrestling, the CBU Lancers engage in sports such as swimming, volleyball, golf, baseball and softball. The school enjoys accreditation from a variety of accreditation boards including the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and has partnerships with other colleges in Europe and Asia.

    Auburn University

    • Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. is affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Auburn offers a wrestling club available to all students, regardless of skill level, with an emphasis on training and skill building. As of fall of 2008, the university accepted 3,984 new students, slightly more than half of whom were from the state of Alabama, for a total of 20,037. The school has an even gender balance. Auburn University enjoys accreditation from the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Students at Auburn can pursue bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.

    Concordia University

    • Concordia University in Seward, Neb. is affiliated with the The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The university was founded in 1894. The college provides bachelor's degrees, graduate degrees and adult education. Students at Concordia come from 43 states and many different countries. The school boasts a low student to teacher ratio of 14 to one. Wrestling is just one of 20 intercollegiate sports offered by Concordia University, which is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Concordia enjoys accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission.

    Missouri Baptist University

    • Missouri Baptist University provides education in eight broad fields, with courses in areas from fine arts to business. MBU offers several campuses in Missouri for Christian students, including West County, Franklin County and Saint Louis. The university also provides education on a distance learning basis. The wrestling team is part of the American Midwest Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The team had two members receive All-American honors in 2010.
