Pavement Design Training

Pavement design training allows individuals to acquire knowledge regarding the major types of pavement, pavement construction and how pavement responds in different environments in both in-person classes and online Web-based training modules.
  1. Target Audience

    • Pavement design training should be attended by engineers, supervisors, construction personnel with governmental agencies and private sector workers that consistently work with pavement and its construction and performance.

    Content

    • Training in pavement design typically covers material such as structural response calculations, pavement performance predictions and mechanistic-empirical pavement design, according to the National Highway Institute. Other topics include cost analysis of pavement design and pavement responses. Typically, design is covered in a training session that also covers pavement construction and rehabilitation.

    Setting and Fees

    • Pavement design courses are offered both as in-person training classes and Web-based tutorials. In-person classes span several days and cost upwards of $600 per participant as of November 2010. Web-based classes can be taken at the student's own pace and cost from $200 to $300 as of November 2010.
